London: Sketch Restaurant

I’ve had Sketch on my list for a while…

The decor alone from the pictures sold me, no concern with the food choice! However I had it on good authority that the food was indeed just as good as the interesting decor.

Based on Conduit Street, mains are between £21 and £42, Cocktails: About £13.50, Desserts about £9 and Yes you are charged for the bread and olives on your table – yes they are amazing.

David Shrigley and India Mahdavi were responsible for the art you can’t help but notice.

It’s classic yet calm, yet refined all at once. The moment you walk through the door the eclectic mix of both art and modernism is incredibly interesting.

We were a couple of minutes early so went into the Glade for a drink before being shown to our table.

The staff were both attentive and accommodating which is always refreshing.

For my main, I indulged in some txogitxu sirloin with truffled chestnut cream – Lovely!  Our other guests tried the Duck for two, the Veal and Dover Sole. I loved their cutlery – which you can of course buy, as displayed in the vending machine picture below ( not really a vending machine – more a display cabinet, but with the feel of one! )

Desserts were interesting! Our table tasted La Rochelle and Malabar. The Malabar was a lil too much for me – but the bubble gum ice – cream in particular was amazing!

As we went for a birthday – it’s always nice to see they do something a lil special..

If you come to either of the rooms at Sketch, make sure you experience the toilets! These pods teamed with a splash of colour complete with sound in each one…

Drinks: Well the classic cocktails weren’t to my liking but I did ask if they could do a passionfruit martini which they did and said we could have anything else we wanted…

There’s also a very nice looking bar under the toilets with a sunken floor bar. So I need to come back and check that out and also the Parlour next time.

After you speak to the door lady when you first arrive…before you put your coat in the cloakroom. Look up the stairs and see if you can spot the hidden “love” message out of the corner of your eye… !

Sketch is definitely something your senses has to experience, Unique Venues always pique my interest so this was indeed right up my street. I’ll be back to try out the other rooms on another occasion.
