UK Staycation in the Cotswolds

As much as I like to jump on a plane, finances or work commitments can sometimes keep me grounded! Being sensible and stuff…hold onto your youth kids!

So I did say, I was going to try and explore my home city and the surrounding areas much more this year, and both GP Associates and Farncombe Estate gave me the perfect reason to do just that.

A couple of months ago, I hopped on a train for 90 mins from Paddington to Moreton-on-Marsh and jumped in a car for 15 minutes to reach the estate. The weather happened to be stunning also, but the minute this city girl saw the view of these lush green rolling hills, I had to pause and take a minute!

The Estate has various different sites and I was staying in The Fish Hotel, in the outhouses which genuinely didn’t disappoint. The suites were homely, stylish and modern, with a window seat view to die for, and as a very cute touch,  music already playing on the radio when I walked in…

I headed out to check out the other side of the state, Foxhill Manor. That lavish mansion vibe, where you want for nothing and where the staff know your first name, and where the chefs in the kitchen are more than happy to rustle up something that you want. As a wise man once said ( My father) ” It takes the same energy to give you something you do like, as it is to give you something you don’t” … There’s even a 24 hour snack station and a selection of spirits to help yourself and a screening room where you can watch a film of your choice.  The rooms are just as snazzy, but still keeping that homely country feel.

I headed back up to the Fish but this time to check out the Hideaway Huts. They are so cute! Think very new age stylish caravan, but with bath tubs, and a hot tub outside.

One even comes with access to the lake and a small boat, so you can sail over to the pergola in the middle ( Yes a proposal or two has happened here)

Back in the car and a short drive to the other side of the site to see Dormy House. Another hotel, but with a roaring real fireplace, some lovely eateries and a lush spa on site where you can book spa days.

I headed back to my room to chill for a bit before heading to The Hook restaurant on – site at the Fish Hotel and for a few drinks in the neighbouring bar before retiring to my lush room for a great sleep!

I know I got extremely lucky with the weather, but I can imagine in the winter, how cute, cosy and romantic this place could be. Also double’s up to be quite an adventurous site, since you can go for a hike in the forest where the hideaway huts and tree houses are too… They’ll even supply you with welly boots! They also do amazing christmas hampers..

A stunning site with a little bit of everything, that I highly recommend. I’ll definitely be back.
